NEXT CONNECTED 101
Saturdays, April 10 & 17
connectED 101 provides insight into the strategies and vision at the core of the Garden and opens doors of opportunity for you to grow to be a vital part of it! Learn what the Garden is...and isn’t...and get to know the leadership team and “how we roll.” This two-part membership class will meet in the Family Room during the evening service. Both Saturdays must be attended to completed the membership class. Sign-ups will begin in mid-March. Space is limited!
Psalm 92:13, 14 teaches us, “Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of their God. They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing.” We must do more than just attend church services. We must get “planted in the house of the Lord.” This is why we believe in church membership. Our connectED! class is designed to help you understand and make a spiritual commitment to your church so that you can accomplish the assignments of the scripture.
In 1 Cor. 12:18 we are told, “God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased.” There is a place in the church body for every believer. It is important that you make a spiritual commitment to get planted and find a place to serve in the body of Christ, your church.
Paul instructed us to “get to know those who labor among you” (1 Thess. 5:12, AMP). This means two things: 1) we are to get to know each other, and 2) we all have a place to labor in some way. Proverbs 13:20 says, “He who walks with wise men shall be wise.” If we work together in the Lord and grow together as a church, we will all be better people. We will also be helping others making a positive difference in the world.
Many Christians have the idea that we can attend church when we feel like it and not really be planted anywhere. Heb. 10:24, 25 tells us, “Let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.” We must bring ourselves together and allow ourselves to become planted, especially as we approach the last of the last days.
Here are five reasons why church membership is important to your success as a Christian:
1. God puts pastors in the church to help you grow and mature to be like Christ. (Eph. 4:11-16)
2. Pastors protect people from the devil, who comes like a wolf after sheep. (John 10:10-14)
3. You and your family must have consistent strong spiritual food in order to grow and prosper as Christians.
(Matt. 4:4; Heb. 4:12; 5:12-14)
4. Pastors watch over your soul and intercede and pray for your life to be blessed.
(Heb. 13:17; 1 Peter 5:2, 3)
5. Your church is a place to give and serve God and people.
(Mal. 3:10; Matt. 22:36-40; John 13:2-17)
